Slow and Steady Wins the Race
15 January 2019
Hey friends. It’s been a long while. I recently switched from Mailchimp to Substack in terms of my newsletters, which you’ll be getting weekly; and I hope you look forward to getting them! ☺️
Since my move to Boston, I’ve been feeling extremely discouraged. I spend a lot of my days at home, applying to a multitude of different jobs, and going to one interview after another… usually feeling really good about it; then not getting the position at all. My mental breakdowns come in waves, and I’ve never experienced my emotions going into a downwards spiral before.
But I just want to remind you, whatever you’re working on, it’s okay to feel how you feel. Your feelings are valid. Failing a few times means that you’re trying— and that’s all that matters.
Remember that what is meant for you, will find you.
Reflections
My brain is tired. Going to interview after interview is tiring, but I know experiencing this is worth it.
The relationship with my parents is still rocky, but I’ve been openly communicating with my mom more. I realized that I can’t resolve my family trauma by ignoring it.
I could definitely learn how to lean on others when they let me. It’s better to open up to my loved ones versus closing myself off.
Little Victories & Moments
🌿 Did actually score a position with a broker’s agency, but ended up not taking it because of the distance. Currently working on getting a position with another company.
🥃 Met Micah’s friends, Stella and Thibault last weekend!
A few things I’ve been reading & watching—
📚 A Monk’s Guide to a Clean House and Mind, It Didn’t Start With You
🎬 Brooklyn Nine-Nine (I’m indulging.)
🎶 half•alive, Beauty Behind the Madness, Don Toliver, To Pimp a Butterfly
I hope you enjoyed this newsletter! I’m aware that this one is short. If you prefer these kinds of snippets per week, or if you’d like to see more, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
Give me a follow on Instagram or Medium if you’d like to chat or read my work, and make sure to hit up the Slack group if you’d like to get some inspiration and motivation. 😜
Have a wonderful hump day, and have a great rest of your week. Make the most of it.
